Topic of speech:

Development and Marketing Experience of Games Run on iPhone, iPad and Android

Abstract:

The downloads of software run on iPhone has amounted to over 2 billion times and several multimillionaires have been made during the process. Besides, the platform of Android has also been put into extensive practice on many domestically leading cell phones. Such opportunities are unprecedented for the games industry. In the past, games developed for other platforms are always at the cost of large amounts of loyalties and SDK expenses. However, since the emergence of Android and App Store, games of the developers can be sold in some 80 countries and run on some 42 million iPhones worldwide. What’s more amazing, users are always willing to buy or have already bought game software of such kind. Such willingness is quite different from that for platforms such as PC and network-driven ones. How should developers look at such opportunities? How would the market situation of Android and mobile phone makers be? How to design and develop unique and proper game software for different touch frequencies and software's? All of these are very interesting topics. However, successful software account for only a small percent of the total number, i.e., 300 thousand. Mr. Powen Ko has been leading the company for three years and has developed some 100 softwares for either Android, iPhone or iPad, which laid a solid foundation for the company to become a globalized one. He will share the expertise concerning console game development with the audiences.

Profile:

By devoting himself to the development of applicable software for iPhone, iPad and Google Android, Mr. Ko won the Gold Disk Award for two consecutive years in 1993 and 1994. And in 1998, he was also awarded the Best Mind Benders in a video game competition. At present, Mr. Ko is working for LoopTek’s Silicon Valley branch in the U.S. as technical director. LoopTek has also set up branches in Beijing and Taipei.

Among the some 100 free or chargeable games developed by LoopTek for App Store iPhone and Google’s Android market, several have ranked among the top 10. Besides, services such as technical support for embedded software and software development for all kinds of systems are also offered by LoopTek. Mr. Ko is also the lecturer for Beijing Anbo Zhongcheng Group, Chinese Culture University in Taipei and Taipei Institute for Information, which offer him platforms for the promotion of smart mobile phone technologies concerning Android, iPhone and J2ME.
