The First CGOC Will Be Held in July

ChinaJoy has been a grand event in the development of global game industry. This year with the Shanghai Expo held during the same period, ChinaJoy will certainly attract extensive attention at home and abroad. To adapt to the trend of development, integrate professional resources and services and promote outsourcing development in Chinese game industry, Howell International Trade Fair Ltd. has worked with Shanghai Multimedia Industry Association (SMIA) and officially announced that the first China Game Outsourcing Conference (CGOC) will be held during the 2010 ChinaJoy.

According to Niko Partners, a world famous market intelligence and customer research provider, about 60% of game developers in the world outsource their business to a certain level. It is anticipated by Screen Digest, an eminent media industry analyst in Britain, that outsourcing will account for 40% of the development cost in the global game industry in 2010, which equals to 2.5 billion USD.

The output value of outsourcing in Shanghai game industry has far exceeded that in other cities in China. Leading game companies such as Activision, EA, Eidos, Epic have all set up branches in Shanghai. In recent years local outsourced production providers like Virtuos and Mineloader have also been flourishing. Shanghai is proudly becoming a global outsourcing center.

SMIA has established the Shanghai Digital Media Outsourcing Alliance (SDMOA), and issued the Specification for Digital Media Project Outsourcing Service. The cooperation network it has built up with most countries in need of outsourcing gathered information and resources for outsourcing in domestic and international markets. The first CGOC will be held in Shanghai International Convention Center at the end of July. With the joint organization between Howell and SMIA, CGOC will be another grand event in the game industry like CGBC (China Game Business Conference) and CGDC (China Game Developers Conference).

The first CGOC will include forums and business match meetings, aiming to provide the game companies in China and aboard with a platform for communication on outsourcing. Attendants share experience together and the outsourcers and outsourcees will have the opportunities to seek business cooperation. The conference will substantially promote the development of outsourcing industry.

Han Zhihai, Secretary-General of the ChinaJoy Organizing Committee and General Manager of Howell, expressed his expectation that the first CGOC will provide communication platforms for all outsourcing-related companies in game industry, and facilitate potential business cooperation to promote vigorous development of game outsourcing in China. Secretary-General of SMIA Ming Haoxia was also confident in their cooperation with Howell and hoped that with the opportunity of Shanghai Expo, the CGOC will be successfully held and helps local companies make their first step in exploring international market.

Preparation for the first CGOC is under smooth progress. All game companies and outsourcing companies in China and abroad are welcomed to participate. Please contact the Organizing Committee for registration. The official website for CGOC will be established soon.
